The home where Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca was born in Fuente Vaqueros<\/a> was restored and converted into a museum by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Granada. Its rooms evoke the atmosphere of his youth in the decoration and furniture, while on the second floor, which was a barn, there is a room for exhibitions and cultural events.\u00a0It treasures innumerable written and graphic documents and even belongings and trousseau belonging to the poet or related to his life and work.<\/p>\n

It is a typical farmhouse, like many others in any village in La Vega of Granada.\u00a0It was built in 1880, when Federico Garc\u00eda Rodr\u00edguez<\/a> married his first wife, Matilde Palacios. The house, which had undergone several transformations with the different families who lived there, after being acquired by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Granada in 1982 and the constitution of the Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca Board, began to function in 1986 as a museum.<\/p>\n

The significance of this house-museum is to keep his memory alive and turn it into a space which full of emotion from memories, where his ideas are nourished and his figure is projected. It shows a brief but intense journey through time, through his intimate spaces: the dining room, the kitchen, the bedrooms and the patio.
