The brothers Horacio and Miguel Rold\u00e1n were part, along with other individuals from Pinos Puente and the hamlet of Asquerosa (Disgusting) (now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/lugar\/casa-familiar-de-valderrubio\/\">Valderrubio<\/a>), of the group of uncontrolled people who tormented the Huerta de San Vicente on August 9 under the pretext of finding the whereabouts of the landlord&#8217;s brothers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/perea-ruiz-gabriel\/\">Gabriel Perea<\/a>, accused of having murdered Jos\u00e9 and Daniel Linares, brothers-in-law of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/garcia-puertas-enrique-el-marranero\/\">Enrique Garc\u00eda Puertas, <em>El Marranero<\/em>,<\/a> mayor of Pinos Puente after the military uprising. Angelina Cordobilla, the servant of the family of the Socialist mayor of Granada, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/fernandez-montesinos-lustau-manuel\/\">Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez-Montesinos<\/a>, who was shot on August 16, witnessed the assault and said that Federico was also beaten by the mob.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Rold\u00e1n family, unlike the Garc\u00eda family, was conservative, despised liberals like the poet&#8217;s father, who became a councilman in the Granada City Council, and had their own political aspirations. Mar\u00eda, the eldest, is married to Antonio Fern\u00e1ndez S\u00e1nchez, an artillery captain who rebelled along with the commander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/valdes-guzman-jose\/\">Jos\u00e9 Vald\u00e9s<\/a>, the civil governor who led the repression in Granada. Miguel, the third of the brothers, accompanies Horacio in the raid he makes on August 9 on the Huerta de san Vicente. <strong>The fourth sister married one of the sons of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/alba-sierra-francisca-frasquita-alba\/\">Francisca Alba Sierra<\/a>, the woman who inspired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/la-casa-de-bernarda-alba-drama-de-mujeres-en-los-pueblos-de-espana\/\"><em>The House of Bernarda Alba<\/em><\/a>,<\/strong> a play written in 1936 but not premiered until 1945 and in Buenos Aires, which further stoked the old animosity. A few days before the coup against the Republic, Federico announced in the press that he had finished <em>The House of Bernarda Alba<\/em>, a play that, according to him, dealt with &#8220;Andalusian sexuality&#8221;. The news reached the heirs of Francisca Alba in Valderrubio.<\/p>\n<p>In many cases, the Rold\u00e1n family followed the wake of Federico&#8217;s father as if it were an arm wrestling match between rivals; Alejandro Rold\u00e1n, Horacio&#8217;s father, tried, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/garcia-rodriguez-federico\/\">Federico Garc\u00eda Rodr\u00edguez<\/a>, to get a seat as a councilman in Granada for the Conservative Party, but he did not succeed.
