Friend of Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca and other members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/lugar\/el-rinconcillo\/\">El Rinconcillo<\/a>\u00a0literary gathering.<\/p>\n<p>He was born in Al\u00e1jar, Huelva, but when he was very young his family moved to Granada. In this city he studied Philosophy. He was part of the gathering at the Caf\u00e9 Alameda, El Rinconcillo, along with other artists and intellectuals of the time as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/soriano-lapresa-o-de-la-presa-francisco\/\">Soriano Lapresa<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/angeles-ortiz-manuel\/\">Manuel \u00c1ngeles Ortiz<\/a>, Jos\u00e9 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/fernandez-montesinos-lustau-manuel\/\">Manuel Fern\u00e1ndez-Montesinos<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/fernandez-almagro-melchor\/\">Fern\u00e1ndez Almagro<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/garcia-lorca-francisco\/\">Francisco<\/a> and Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca, etc. He was a cousin of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/zambrano-alarcon-maria\/\">Mar\u00eda Zambrano<\/a>, with whom he had a love affair that failed.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He collaborated in newspapers such as &#8216;<em>La Estafeta&#8217;<\/em> or &#8216;<em>El Sol&#8217;<\/em>. The latter newspaper sent him as a correspondent to Japan. He was a Spanish reader in Osaka and Kobe, where he stayed until 1934. He learned the language of this country and its literature and culture. This later influenced his literary work.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He was one of the founders in 1915 of the magazine <em>Granada<\/em>. In 1919 he went to Madrid, where he met artists and writers such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/guillen-alvarez-jorge\/\">Jorge Guill\u00e9n<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/salinas-serrano-pedro\/\">Pedro Salinas<\/a>, as well as remaining in contact with all the people from Granada who had been settling in the Spanish capital. He worked at the Center for Historical Research and collaborated in newspapers such as <em>La Estafeta<\/em> or <em>El Sol<\/em>. The latter newspaper sent him as a correspondent to Japan. He was a Spanish reader in Osaka and Kobe, where he stayed until 1934. He learned the language of this country and its literature and culture. This later influenced his literary work. In 1934 he settled in Romania as a diplomat and worked as a professor of Spanish at the University of Bucharest. On the way he lost a suitcase with documents. He went into exile in the United States, where he taught at Brooklyn College and the New School for Social Research, in New York, from 1941 until almost his death. There he was in contact with Juan Larrea, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Blecua, Lorca&#8217;s family, Guill\u00e9n, Salinas&#8230; He died in Brooklyn in 1956.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He was united by a great friendship with Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca. The latter would dedicate some of his writings to him,<\/strong> such as the <em>Andaluza<\/em> section of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/canciones\/\"><em>Songs<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of Pizarro&#8217;s published works include <em>Versos<\/em> (Meridiano, 1961), <em>Poetry and Theater<\/em> (Diputaci\u00f3n de Granada, 2000), <em>Record of the Returnees<\/em> (Ediciones Embalaje de Museo Royo of Colombia), (Ediciones Embalaje de Museo Royo of Colombia)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spanish poet, professor and diplomat.
