{"id":9762,"date":"2018-12-20T11:46:20","date_gmt":"2018-12-20T11:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/personaje\/molina-zuniga-jose\/"},"modified":"2021-10-28T11:23:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-28T11:23:00","slug":"molina-zuniga-jose","status":"publish","type":"personaje","link":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/molina-zuniga-jose\/","title":{"rendered":"Molina Z\u00fa\u00f1iga, Jos\u00e9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jos\u00e9 Molina Z\u00fa\u00f1iga was a musician from Granada, friend of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/barrios-fernandez-angel\/\">\u00c1ngel Barrios<\/a>, Isaac Alb\u00e9niz, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/falla-matheu-manuel-de\/\">Manuel de Falla<\/a> and Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca, who was part of the cast that participated, with Falla and other supporting musicians, in the puppet show on the Three Kings Day in 1923.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>His fame came as a member of the Tr\u00edo Alb\u00e9niz.\u00a0It seems that his lute and guitar methods were ahead of their time, but his work was always silent and modest. In addition to being an exceptional teacher and performer, he was a composer, especially of boleros and couplets. Many well-known artists sang his songs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thanks to a contest organized by the Diputaci\u00f3n de Granada in which he won a violin, at the age of 9 he was able to begin a musical career that was later to be brilliant. <strong>He played as a soloist, as part of orchestras or accompanying artists in the most famous and frequented caf\u00e9s of the early twentieth century (Suizo, Alameda, Hollywood, Caf\u00e9 Flor&#8230;).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>His fame, however, came as a member of the Tr\u00edo Alb\u00e9niz . Although he could play several instruments, as a lute player he was highly praised by the press of the time. In the early 20th century, the Alb\u00e9niz Trio was very active and successful. They toured Spain and Europe. They visited Falla and rehearsed with him pieces that the composer was going to premiere. That night an interlude attributed to Cervantes, <em>The Two Talkers<\/em>, an old Andalusian tale in three prints and a chrome , <em>The Girl who Waters the Basil and the Wondering Prince<\/em>, dialogued and adapted by Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca and the <em>Mystery of the Three Kings<\/em>, from the 13th century, was performed.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/lanz-gonzalez-hermenegildo\/\">Hermenegildo Lanz<\/a> was in charge of the scenery, puppets and flat figures. The music for the entire program was performed by Manuel de Falla (piano and harpsichord), Jos\u00e9 G\u00f3mez (violin), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/baldres-alfredo\/\">Alfredo Baldr\u00e9s<\/a> (clarinet) and Jos\u00e9 Molina (lute). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/garcia-lorca-isabel\/\">Isabel Garc\u00eda Lorca<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/de-los-rios-giner-laura\/\">Laura de los R\u00edos<\/a> sang.<\/p>\n<p>He was in any musical group that arose in Granada, as a teacher and collaborator. It seems that his lute and guitar methods were ahead of their time, but his work was always silent and modest. In addition to being an exceptional teacher and performer, he was a composer, especially of boleros and couplets.
