He was appointed parish priest on June 26, 1920. The Garc\u00eda Lorca family resided in Granada, from 1909, in two apartments near the parish so they knew first hand the <em>keys<\/em> to the popularity of &#8220;Father Arcoya&#8221;, as he was known by his followers. After the Civil War he was linked to the Francoist cause. In 1948, he founded a school in the premises attached to the parish.
