Of unknown parents, he was given as a newborn to the shoemaker Antonio Chac\u00f3n Rodr\u00edguez and his wife, Mar\u00eda Garc\u00eda S\u00e1nchez, who recognized him as their son.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In 1922, he presided over the famous Flamenco Song Contest in Granada, organized by Lorca and Manuel de Falla.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>He stood out as a singer of cartageneras, malague\u00f1as and grana\u00ednas.<\/strong> From a very young age he was already performing in cafes and fairs. In 1886, he amazed Enrique <em>El Mellizo<\/em> with his singing. From then on his prestige and his contracts increased. In 1922, he presided over the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/the-deep-song-contest-of-1922\/\">Flamenco Song Contest<\/a> in Granada. He alternated his public performances with private meetings. The contest, held on June 13 and 14, 1922 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/lugar\/plaza-de-los-aljibes\/\">Plaza de los Aljibes<\/a>, was supervised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/falla-matheu-manuel-de\/\">Manuel de Falla<\/a>, Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca, Antonio Chac\u00f3n himself, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/ceron-rubio-miguel\/\">Miguel Cer\u00f3n<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/lanz-gonzalez-hermenegildo\/\">Hermenegildo Lanz<\/a> and others, and benefitted from the advice of singers such as Manuel Torre, meant the recognition by creators and intellectuals of this genuine expression of the so-called &#8220;primitive Andalusian singing&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He died in Madrid in 1929.
