She was born in Fuente Vaqueros, although she soon moved to Granada. Her family lived on the Acera del Darro, very close to the first house where Lorca&#8217;s family lived. She had a strong and cheerful character. She was spontaneous and witty. She was about seven years older than Federico and that allowed her to play and take care of him when he was little in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/lugar\/the-house-where-lorca-was-born-in-fuente-vaqueros\/\">Fuente Vaqueros<\/a>. <strong>She was the one who introduced the poet to a stage for the first time.<\/strong> Clotilde said that Federico started acting for the first time with her. It was in a zarzuela,<em> La alegr\u00eda de la huerta<\/em> (<em>The Joy of the Orchard)<\/em>, in some amateur performances. Federico would have been three or four years old and she had dressed him as a little gypsy.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Clotilde was a source of inspiration for Federico.\u00a0She was about seven years older than him and that allowed her to play and take care of him when he was little in Fuente Vaqueros.\u00a0She was always a great admirer and reader of her cousin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She was the owner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/lugar\/huerta-del-tamarit\/\">Huerta del\u00a0Tamarit farmhouse<\/a>, very close to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/lugar\/huerta-de-san-vicente\/\">Huerta de San Vicente farmhouse<\/a>. Federico liked to visit it very much and said that his uncle had the most beautiful addresses there &#8220;Huerta del Tamarit, pago del Farag\u00fcit, Granada&#8221;. This orchard gave its name to one of Federico&#8217;s books of poems, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/divan-del-tamarit\/\">Divan del Tamarit<\/a>.<\/em> In the book we can find a tribute to this house near San Vicente where he wrote most of the work and where he felt so comfortable: &#8220;Por las arboledas del Tamarit [\u201cThe dogs of lead have arrived]\/ han venido los perros de plomo [among the orchards of the Tamarit] \/ a esperar que se caigan los ramos, \/ a esperar que se quiebren ellos solos\u201d[hoping that they might fell the branches\u201d].<\/p>\n<p>Clotilde was a source of inspiration for Federico. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/la-casa-de-bernarda-alba-drama-de-mujeres-en-los-pueblos-de-espana\/\"><em>The House of Bernarda Alba<\/em><\/a>, the scene in which Adela, <strong>to escape from mourning, puts on a green dress is inspired by a real anecdote starring Clotilde<\/strong>: The death of her grandfather prevented her from wearing her new dress, so she decided to put it on and go to the farmyard for the chickens to see. This green dress may also be behind thw work of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/la-zapatera-prodigiosa-farsa-violenta-en-dos-actos\/\">The Shoemaker\u2019s Prodigious Wife<\/a>, <\/em>as well as the sentimental knot of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/dona-rosita-la-soltera-o-el-lenguaje-de-las-flores-_x000d_poema-granadino-del-novecientos-dividido-en-varios-jardines-con-escenas-de-canto-y-baile\/\"><em>Do\u00f1a Rosita the Spinster<\/em><\/a>. Clotilde had a boyfriend for many years, her cousin M\u00e1ximo Delgado Garc\u00eda, who, similar to Do\u00f1a Rosita&#8217;s, goes to Tucum\u00e1n and there marries and forgets about her. The difference, according to Clotilde Garc\u00eda Picossi, is that she did not wait for him all her life.<\/p>\n<p>She was always a great admirer and reader of her cousin\u2019s works. She lived in Huerta del Tamarit farmhouse until she was admitted to a clinic by her relatives.
