At the back of the caf\u00e9, behind the small stage where a string quintet with piano performed, there was &#8220;a large corner where two or three tables with comfortable couches against the wall could fit&#8221; in which the young customers set up their headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The founding of El Rinconcilllo was a consequence of the decline of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/lugar\/centro-artistico\/\">Centro Art\u00edstico<\/a> from which its more nonconformist members had separated because of their &#8220;provincialism&#8221; and their attachment to the more traditionalist plastic arts.<\/p>\n<p>Proof of this open and universal spirit of the Rinconcillistas is that two of its most active members soon ended up in Paris: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/angeles-ortiz-manuel\/\">Manuel \u00c1ngeles Ortiz<\/a>, a disciple of Picasso, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/gonzalez-de-la-serna-ismael\/\">Ismael Gonz\u00e1lez de la Serna<\/a>. Immediately Federico and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/garcia-lorca-francisco\/\">Francisco Garc\u00eda Lorca<\/a> or the language teacher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/fernandez-almagro-melchor\/\">Melchor Fern\u00e1ndez Almagro<\/a> also went to Madrid.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4393\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 810px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10778 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca around his university days.\" width=\"800\" height=\"1033\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3-768x992.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3-793x1024.jpg 793w, https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3-200x258.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3-330x426.jpg 330w, https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3-290x375.jpg 290w, https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/RETRATO_OLD_Lorca-joven_3-348x450.jpg 348w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Portrait of Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca during his university days \/ Photo: FGL Foundation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other rinconcillistas were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/soriano-lapresa-o-de-la-presa-francisco\/\">Francisco Soriano Lapresa<\/a> (leader of that cenacle without bosses), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/lanz-gonzalez-hermenegildo\/\">Hermenegildo Lanz<\/a> (engraver, scenographer and professor), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/gonzalez-quesada-juan-cristobal\/\">Juan Crist\u00f3bal<\/a> (sculptor), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/mora-guarnido-jose\/\">Jos\u00e9 Mora Guarnido<\/a> (diplomat) and the journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/ruiz-carnero-constantino\/\">Constantino Ruiz Carnero<\/a>.\u00a0In addition to the regulars, there were the rinconcillistas who passed by: a long list of eminent personalities of the time.<\/p>\n<p>There were also imaginary tertulianos conceived for fun and irony. One of the happiest finds of the members of the tertulia was the invention of the poet Isidoro Capdep\u00f3n Fern\u00e1ndez, a supposed bard from Granada who, after emigrating to Guatemala, had returned covered in laurels. Capdep\u00f3n, an apocryphal and collective poet, was a sort of anti-hero who represented &#8220;all the rhetoric in use at the beginning of the century, of the latiguillo and the sonsonete, of the rhetorical floripondio, the versito de abanico, the commemorative ode&#8221;.
