{"id":7872,"date":"2021-08-10T08:00:30","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T08:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/obra-literaria\/impressions-and-landscapes\/"},"modified":"2021-10-19T10:18:35","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T10:18:35","slug":"impressions-and-landscapes","status":"publish","type":"obra_literaria","link":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/impressions-and-landscapes\/","title":{"rendered":"Impressions and Landscapes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The book <em>Impressions and Landscapes (Impresiones y paisajes)<\/em> brings together descriptions of different geographical places in Spain through which Lorca passed on his study trip, as well as a series dedicated to Granada, another to gardens and, at the end, a miscellany.<\/p>\n<p>The book opens with a dedication to his former music teacher, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/segura-mesa-antonio\/\">Antonio Segura Mesa<\/a>, and a prolog in which he already expresses his romantic vision of landscape and poetry, as well as his low expectations for the book.<\/p>\n<p>The section <em>Meditation<\/em> tells us about the fields of Castile and the Castilian cities. He continues with his lyrical vision of the city of Avila, of a Castilian inn, La Cartuja, San Pedro de Carde\u00f1a, the Monastery of Silos, the tombs of Burgos&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Of special interest are the sections dedicated to the city of Granada, where the romantic vision of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.turgranada.es\/en\/fichas\/albaicin-16626\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Albaic\u00edn<\/a>, the Dauro, the criticism on the modifications that the city has suffered (along the lines of \u00c1ngel Ganivet), the trace of the city\u2019s oriental past, the contrast between the tranquility of the valley and the tragedy that is breathed in this district (<em>&#8220;Everything that the valley and the city have of calm and majestic, this Moorish quarter has of anguish and tragedy&#8221;<\/em>), the Arab evocations, the romantic vision (cypresses of romantic blackness), elements as native of Granada as the pitas, the prickly pears, the ceramics of Fajalauza&#8230; The musical lexicon permeates everything (especially the section on <em>Sounds of the City<\/em>, where the synaesthetic element between sound and color stands out and which recalls his later lecture <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/obra-literaria\/como-canta-una-ciudad-de-noviembre-a-noviembre\/\"><em>How a City Sings from November to November<\/em><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>After the part dedicated to Granada, he adds another to describe the types of gardens and ends with a miscellany and a text, <em>&#8220;Missive&#8221;<\/em>, dedicated to his teacher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/personaje\/dominguez-berrueta-martin\/\">Dom\u00ednguez Berrueta<\/a> and to the students with whom he made the trip, and which effectively comes from a missive he sent to them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":7873,"template":"","genero_obra_literaria":[101],"class_list":["post-7872","obra_literaria","type-obra_literaria","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","genero_obra_literaria-prose"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/obra_literaria\/7872"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/obra_literaria"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/obra_literaria"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/7873"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7872"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"genero_obra_literaria","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.universolorca.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/genero_obra_literaria?post=7872"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
