The butterfly’s evil spell. Women and dances at the time of Federico García Lorca
The ‘Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens’ program is twenty years old this summer and celebrates it by staging ‘The butterfly’s evil spell’ performed by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, when it also marks the centenary of the premiere in Madrid of Federico’s work. It will run from July 20 to August 21, with all performances at 10 pm.
The music and dance event is organized by the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions in collaboration with the Alhambra Board and the Generalife, where it is held in its open-air theater. The program focuses on women and dances at the time of Federico García Lorca, in a premiere of the public company directed by Úrsula López.
The program celebrates twenty editions since it was launched, in 2002, with the staging of Blood Wedding directed by Antonio Gades, until the unforgettable last edition starring Estrella Morente, Manuel Liñán, Carmen Linares, Arcángel, Marina Heredia and Eva Yerbabuena.
